Measuring one particle's state instantly determines the other's, defying classical physics.


Communication using Entanglement?


While it might seem like entangled particles could be used for "instantaneous" communication, that's not quite true. Quantum entanglement doesn't allow sending information directly. However, it can be used to establish a secure communication channel:


  • Entangled particles are created and distributed to two parties (Alice and Bob).

  • Alice uses classical methods (regular light or electrical signals) to send Bob instructions on how to manipulate their entangled particle.

  • By measuring their particle based on Alice's instructions, Bob can decode a message encoded in the manipulations.

The Security Advantage:

  • If anyone (an eavesdropper, Eve) tries to intercept the entangled particles or measure them, the entanglement is broken, and both Alice and Bob will know. This makes eavesdropping easily detectable, offering a significant security advantage over traditional methods.


Current State and Challenges:

Despite these hurdles, research is ongoing, with potential applications in:
